Hall County Sheriff Inmate Search and Current Roster

The Hall County Sheriff's Office publishes live inmate data through two public tools. The main search is at hallcounty.policetocitizen.com. A secondary roster is available at reports.hallcountyne.gov. Both are updated every 15 minutes, so the data reflects real-time custody status. If someone was booked in the past few hours, they should appear on one or both lists.

Each entry in the inmate search shows a lot of detail: the person's name, age, sex, height, weight, arrest date and time, primary charge, booking agency, holding facility, and bail amount. You can also filter results by race and sex, which can help narrow down searches when you have a common name. The system covers the Hall County Jail at 1700 Barber Road, Gainesville, GA 30507. You can reach the jail by phone at 770-531-6904.

The jail has a capacity of 1,026 inmates and was built in 2007. It also runs two smaller programs alongside the main facility: a male and female work release unit with 148 beds, and a house arrest program that handles up to 60 people per day. Not everyone in the jail's system is in a cell at the main building.

Hall County Current Inmates and Secondary Roster

The secondary inmate roster at reports.hallcountyne.gov serves as a backup if the primary search is unavailable. It draws from the same jail data but may display results in a different format. Both tools are free. If you can't find someone using one, try the other before contacting the jail directly.

The jail phone number for direct inquiries is 770-531-6904. For general sheriff's office business, call 770-531-6900. The main sheriff's office address is 2859 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30504. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hall County also runs a North Precinct at 122 Dean Street in Clermont (770-533-7200) and a South Precinct at 7345 Cody Drive in Flowery Branch (770-533-7704). If an arrest was made in one of those areas, it may have initially been processed through the nearest precinct before transfer to the main jail.

Note: Visitation at the Hall County Jail runs on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Each visitor gets one 30-minute onsite video visit per week. Clergy may visit Monday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Hall County Crime Data and Arrest Trends

Hall County crime data for 2022 showed a notable rise in both violent and property offenses. Violent crimes climbed 10.59 percent compared to 2021. Property crimes went up 13.17 percent. There were 282 reported violent crimes that year. Aggravated assault made up 69.50 percent of those, and rape accounted for 19.50 percent. On the property side, 1,468 incidents were recorded, with larceny-theft making up 70.79 percent of the total.

Inmate data from 2023 shows 127 inmates counted in one snapshot period, with 104 male (81.89 percent) and 23 female (18.11 percent). Those numbers reflect the daily average population, not annual bookings, so the actual number of people who move through the jail in a full year is much higher. Hall County is one of the more active counties in northeast Georgia when it comes to arrest and inmate volume.

The Hall County Warrants Unit operates out of 1700 Barber Road, Gainesville, GA 30507. Their phone number is 770-531-6907. If you are looking for information about an active warrant in Hall County, that unit handles those inquiries.

Hall County Open Records and Booking Photo Requests

Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch oversees the Open Records Unit for the sheriff's office. The Records Unit Supervisor is Lt. Cameron Parker. To submit an open records request for Hall County arrest records or booking photos, contact the unit at 2859 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30504. The phone number is 770-531-6877 and the email address is orr_sheriff@hallcounty.org.

Georgia's Open Records Act, codified at O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70, requires agencies to respond within three business days. The first 15 minutes of staff time is free, and the first 20 pages cost nothing. Beyond that, pages run $0.10 each. Booking photos are public records under Georgia law, but a 2014 statute, O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19, prohibits law enforcement from posting those photos on public websites. That is why you won't see photos in the online inmate search. You can still request them through the formal open records process.

If a Hall County booking photo has appeared on a third-party mugshot website, the subject may have removal rights under O.C.G.A. § 10-1-393.5. That law requires mugshot sites to remove photos free of charge within 30 days if the arrest qualifies for record restriction. The Georgia Consumer Protection Division has step-by-step guidance on how to file that request by certified mail.
