Georgia Busted Mugshots by City
Georgia has 49 cities with a population of 25,000 or more. Most arrests made inside city limits are booked into the county jail rather than a city-run facility. City police departments process the arrest and transfer inmates to the county detention center. Select a city below to find the relevant county sheriff's inmate search, booking record tools, and arrest record resources for that area.
How City Arrest Records Work in Georgia
Most Georgia cities do not run their own jails. When someone is arrested by a city police department, they are typically transported to the county detention center for booking. The county sheriff then maintains the booking record, the arrest charge log, and any inmate search portal. This means that to find arrest records or busted mugshots for someone arrested in Atlanta, you would use the Fulton County Sheriff's resources. For someone arrested in Marietta, you would use Cobb County. The county is always the key to finding local arrest records in Georgia.
A few exceptions exist. Atlanta maintains a City Detention Center at 254 Peachtree Street Southwest. However, most arrestees are eventually transferred to the Fulton County Jail at 901 Rice Street NW. Warner Robins has a Police to Citizen portal at p2c.warnerrobinsga.gov that lists recent arrests made by the Warner Robins Police Department. Columbus, which is consolidated with Muscogee County, runs its jail as a unified system. For most other cities, the county sheriff's inmate search is the primary tool you will use.
Under O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19, Georgia law enforcement cannot post booking photographs online. This applies to city police just as it does to county sheriffs. City-level arrest information that is publicly available typically includes the arrest charge, the arresting officer, and the booking date. Booking photos are not part of standard online releases. If you need a booking photo for media purposes, contact the public information office at the county sheriff's office or the city police department. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation also maintains statewide criminal history records through GCIC for broader searches.
